BS4142:2014 Noise Assessments

If you are planning to install an AC unit extraction system or build a new factory, and you are near to residential dwellings you will require an industrial noise impact assessment to ensure you don’t affect the amenity of people living nearby.

Such surveys are carried out in accordance with BS4142:2014, a British Standard that Local Authorities use as guidance when trying to ascertain if what you want to do is likely to upset  your neighbours.

We have extensive experience of conducting BS 4142 noise surveys as well as dealing with your local authority to help your project successfully negotiate the planning journey. We’re there to offer advice at every stage, and if the assessment looks unfavourable we’ll make straightforward practical suggestions to help get the project back on track.

To ensure your survey runs smoothly and efficiently we will require the following information:

  1. Site plans

  2. Manufacturer’s details on the prospective plant installation and its location

  3. A secure location on-site for monitoring equipment – we need to carry out a baseline noise survey on-site to establish the noise exposure. If this cannot be provided we will carry out manned monitoring

  4. Operational hours of the unit(s)

Depending on the scale of the project, we may request additional information. To discuss your requirements, please contact us.
